Central and South West Corp of Dallas hopes to have a contract in place by late August with one or two wind bidders for its 6 MW demonstration wind farm, part of the national wind turbine verification programme. One or two bidders should have been chosen by the end of July, says Ward Marshall, CSW project manager. The utility's Request for Proposals was sent to eight vendors, but Marshall will not say how many proposals were submitted. Construction should start by October 1, he says. Either 6 MW of the test project would be built by one company, or 3 MW by each of two companies. It is being partially funded by the US Department of Energy and the Electric Power Research Institute.
