The major trends of the past year have been the jump in size of orders and requests for proposals (Spain kicked off with a 1400 MW order and the American Northwest has just asked for 1000 MW); the emergence of offshore wind; the development of carbon and green credit trading models; signals from big business that it wants in; and a quiet year marking the lull before the storm in the US. It will almost certainly be wind's dominant market in 2001 with around 2000 MW in the cauldron.
