Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) of Japan has signed a two year co-operation agreement with Winkra-Energie of Hannover for promotion in Germany of Mitsubishi's 450 kW wind turbine. Winkra will also conduct project planning and services for German wind stations using the machine. An MHI 450 kW was bought and installed by Winkra at the end of last year. Both companies expect sales of the Mitsubishi 450 kW, to be known as the MWT-450, to reach between 100 and 200 turbines over the next two years, the period covered by the co-operation agreement, says Winkra's Martin Lawrenz. After two years, says Lawrenz, the larger megawatt machines currently being developed by several manufacturers will come into their own.
