About 6400 people from 82 countries attended the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) and Exhibition in Brussels last month. Over 2200 of them were conference delegates, 3800 were visitors and the remainder were exhibitors and media representatives. The largest contingents came from Belgium, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark and France. Around 190 papers were presented in 40 sessions over the four days, divided into four parallel sessions covering policy, science and technology as well as workshops. There were 230 exhibitors, the same number as at last year's EWEC event in Milan. Of these, Germany fielded 53 exhibiting companies, Denmark and the UK were each represented by 33 companies and the Netherlands by 25. Host country Belgium produced a respectable 18 exhibitors.
