The first wind project by eNova Energiesysteme of Leer as general contractor has been completed. Ten Tacke TW 600 machines are now turning at Holtgaste. Until this DEM 16 million project, eNova had only operated as a sub contractor, but has now branched into the wind business as a full scale developer. eNova has also arranged the sale of the wind plant to an operating company made up of 31 local investors. The Holtgaste plant is the first in the Ostfriesland district of Leer and was three years underway because of planning authority concerns. Installation, though, took just two months despite the necessity of laying heavy-load bridges across two canals and construction of a 1.5 kilometre access road. To compensate for the perceived nuisance of the wind farm, the Leer authorities have required the owners of the plant to lease 27 hectares of land for DEM 1000/ha for 20 years. During this time the land must be irrigated and cared for as an unofficial nature reserve. eNova has been contracted for this task.
