Country's first wind farm uses German technology

Brazilian utility Coelce is to develop a 10 MW wind station using German technology, according to wind turbine manufacturer Enercon. In September Enercon signed a contract with Coelce for delivery of 20, 500 kW E40 machines. The rotor blades and nacelle will be built at Enercon's factory in Sorocaba, Brazil. The project will be the first wind farm in the country which has long been interested in developing its wind resource. A location has not yet been decided upon, but installation should start in mid 1998, according to Enercon.
