Vodafone Portugal has started producing its own electricity from micro-wind systems to power its operations. The mobile phone operator has installed a 3.5 kW wind power unit in the telecommunications tower at its Serra do Socorro base station in Mafra. It is planning similar installations at another 32 sites.
