Continuing in its wind power expansion strategy, Britain's International Power has acquired a 20 MW operational wind farm in Germany from developer Windkraft Nord (WKN). Located in the inland state of Brandenburg in eastern Germany, the Karstaedt wind farm comprises Vestas 2 MW machines and came online in December. Last year International Power more than doubled its European wind portfolio to reach 1153 MW by buying 660 MW of operating capacity across Germany, the Netherlands and Italy from wind asset management company Trinergy. Its other major acquisition was in 2006 when it bought the 436 MW Levanto portfolio of wind stations in Germany and France from the UK's Christofferson Robb & Company. The final 6 MW of that portfolio is due to online this year.
