Yet another British offshore project is being lifted into being by a major energy player. Danish utility Elsam has bought the Kentish Flats project in the Thames Estuary from its developer, NEG Micon. The sale is conditional on the delivery of 30 NEG Micon 2.75 MW turbines. The EUR 150 million project is one of the first round of British offshore wind farms. It has planning consent and a £10 million government grant. Elsam already operates the 160 MW Horns Reef wind farm off the Danish North Sea coast. "Kentish Flats is well in line with Elsam's strategy to develop into an international enterprise through the establishment of sustainable energy facilities," says the company's Peter Høstgaard-Jensen.
