No bird deaths
There were no bird strikes at a Bonus wind turbine near a major migration flight path for trumpeter swans and other species in the Yukon in a recent assessment by ornithologist David Mossop of Yukon College. Mossop said at the recent CanWEA conference that there were no bird strikes at the Haeckel ridge site in the period 1993 to 1997, while nearby transmission towers killed seven birds. The Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) funded study could ultimately contribute to a new wind farm in the area.
