Country's largest wind farm on-line

The total installed wind capacity of Finland was nearly doubled to 20 MW last month when an 8 MW wind farm was inaugurated at Pori on the west coast, reports project consultant Esa Holttinen of Ekono Energy Ltd. Consisting of eight Bonus 1 MW turbines, the wind farm is the country's largest to date (Windpower Monthly, January 1999). Some 200 guests attended the event. Owner and operator of the project is Ubraanituuli (Urban Wind), consisting of nine municipal utilities in Finland, which together control about 20% of the country's power market.
