New BWEA chief executive takes up her post

The British Wind Energy Association's new chief executive began her work in late June. Maria McCaffery replaces Marcus Rand, who has moved on to the Carbon Trust as head of public relations and corporate communications. McCaffery is used to liaising between industry and government from her previous roles as director general of the Institute of Export and as director of the international division at the British Chambers of Commerce. She has an ongoing role at the Board of UK Trade and Investment advising on business support programs and was honoured with an MBE in 1999 for services to British exporters. McCaffery says she has been passionate about renewables following a degree in Management and Chemical Sciences with a specialisation in alternative and renewables systems.
