Wind power may be used on an Indian reservation in Montana. The Fort Peck Tribe of Native Americans in northeastern Montana is planning a wind resource assessment study. Bechtel Enterprises of San Francisco is leading the project. A $250,000 grant is being awarded under the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Members of the tribe or the local community college on the reservation may participate. A competitive solicitation for the study was issued in March last year and provisional grants were awarded in September. Some contracts are still in the final stages of negotiation.
