Grid operator expects 5000 MW of wind by 2010
1 September 2007
Wind power projects totalling 5000 MW were waiting in the queue for a grid-connection permit in March, says grid operator Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE) in a recent report. Not all these will come on line because of various hurdles, such as local opposition and wind turbine supply chain difficulties, but the operator estimates that total installed capacity will reach 5000 MW in 2010 and 7000 MW in 2012. This compares with the government target of 13,500 MW in 2010.
