EDF orders 200 MW from Vestas

EDF Energies Nouvelles, the renewables arm of state-run utility Electricité de France, has signed a framework agreement with Vestas for the supply and commissioning of 200 MW of turbines to be delivered in 2008 and 2009, with an option for an additional 400 MW during the same period. The turbines, slated for projects in France, Italy and Greece, will be a mix of V52-850 kW, V80 2 MW and V90 3 MW units. EDF Energies Nouvelles previously signed agreements with GE and Repower to meet its turbine needs up to the end of 2007 in the United States and to 2008 in Europe. It is currently negotiating with both companies to extend the US contracts to 2008.
