Portuguese wind farm developer Enersis, owned by Babcock & Brown, has picked Vestas as technology supplier for a fourth time. Starting in the autumn, Vestas will be delivering 34, 3 MW units for a 102 MW wind farm at Toutiço in the district of Coimbra in central Portugal, scheduled for completion a year later. Vestas' Juan Araluce reports that the company has already installed 76, 3 MW machines in Portugal for Enersis. In total, 123 Vestas 3 MW units were turning in the country at the end of last year. The Toutiço plant is expected to produce 264 GWh a year, enough for about 100,000 Portuguese homes. Not that B&B is totally wedded to Vestas. In March the company also signed five turnkey agreements with Nordex for 57, 2.5 MW machines, 44 of which are headed for Portugal in two projects, the 60 MW Bornes facility and Lousa II at 50 MW.
