Storage technologies and renewables will be a major focus of a two and a half day conference to be sponsored in October by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). The event is to mark "distributed resources week" in 1998 in America. The fourth annual conference, hosted by utility Wisconsin Electric Power Company, is from October 21 to 23 in Milwaukee. Its focus is on identifying strategies to implement distributed resources technologies. Small energy storage devices, fuel cells, and combustion turbines are the elements of distributed resources, a concept that is gaining popularity in the United States as the electricity industry is restructured. Sessions will cover key implementation issues, the solutions that distributed generation can provide, and the status of commercial and near commercial technologies, including storage and renewables.
