Tory targets 30% of energy from renewables

The Conservative opposition party has announced a 30% target for energy from renewables by 2030. At the Tories' October conference, environment spokesman Damian Green unveiled the party's new renewable energy policy. Proposals include net metering, 100% capital allowances for the first year of offshore wind projects and altering planning guidance to encourage energy crops. Green attacked the government's planned Climate Change Levy, which he claimed would do nothing to stop climate change, but would clobber British business. "An incoming Conservative government will scrap it immediately," he said.
