Rolf Linkohr has replaced Eryl McNally as the speaker on research, technological development and energy for the European Social Democrat Party group in the EU parliament. The position became vacant when McNally in July became deputy speaker for the Labour Group in the parliament. Linkohr, a physicist, has been a European MEP since 1979 and is also a member of the Committee for Energy and Research Technology, CERT. His activities extend to the position of president of the European Energy Foundation, an all-party organisation to promote dialogue on energy matters between European institutions and industry. He is a warm promoter of wind power in the European political scene.
