Spanish utility Iberdrola completed its first French wind power plant last month. The company bought the two developments -- 19.7 MW at Kergrist and 12 MW at La Butte de Fraus, both in the Morbihan département of southern Brittany -- from Germany's P&T Technologie last June (Windpower Monthly, July 2005). They are powered by 15 Vestas V80 2 MW wind turbines and two V52 850 kW units. Iberdrola's French affiliate, Iberdrola Energies Renouvelables SAS will operate the wind plant. The utility has also signed a purchase option agreement with P&T for 100 MW in France to year-end 2008. The deal is part of Iberdrola's target to boost its global ownership of wind capacity from its current 3000 MW to 5500 MW by 2008.
