Representatives from a number of offshore companies were to be seen roaming around the offshore conference. Anthony Perry from Keliston Engineering of the UK, a small offshore industry contractor, said his company recently joined the British Wind Energy Association after getting wind of the new demand for barges. Perry was hoping to make contacts with anyone needing a small jack-up barge. He noted the glaringly small number of offshore foundation contractors listed in European wind industry publications. "If the UK is looking at installing 1500 turbines offshore in the next ten years -- that's a pretty tall order. I think the marine expectations from the wind industry are pretty high."
