Tehachapi wind farm robbed

A reward of $500 is being offered for information in connection with the theft of more than $26,000 worth of wind turbine equipment in the Mojave area of California. The theft occurred from a wind farm owned by Windsong Energy on Tehachapi Willow Springs Road, one mile south of Oak Creek Road, over the New Year weekend. Parts stolen from the older Stormaster turbines include high-voltage breakers, copper wire, as well as starters. Kern County Sergeant Mike Lackey says the criminal or criminals probably knew the wind farm. "It takes technical knowledge to do this," he adds. A year earlier, copper wire was stolen from the same 50 wind turbines, owned by Joel Brust for the last ten years.
