Long awaited national siting guidelines get closer

Long-awaited national guidelines for the construction of wind power stations in Italy should be ready in six to eight months, according to the under-secretary of state for culture, Danielle Mazzonis. Industry players have been waiting for the guidelines since late 2003, when a key law on renewable energy was approved. Procedures for permitting projects can currently vary greatly from region to region. Italy's industry, culture and environment ministries must all sign off on the regulation.
