After bringing their 30 MW Magrath Wind Power Project in Alberta online ahead of schedule and on budget, Calgary-based oil company Suncor Energy, Spanish renewable energy developer Corporacion Energía Hidroeléctrica de Navarra (EHN), and Calgary pipeline giant Enbridge Inc are now looking east to Ontario. The trio has teamed up again to propose a 75 MW wind power project in the province's 300 MW call for renewable energy capacity. The partners have been monitoring the wind resource at a site east of Lake Huron in Huron-Kinloss Township for more than a year. An environmental review is ongoing and discussions with local stakeholders will continue through the fall. The Ontario government is currently evaluating the 39 bids it received in response to its 300 MW request for proposals and expects to announce winners before the end of the year. Except for a handful of companies that have announced their participation, no details about the bidders or their projects have been released.
