The parliamentary ombudsman has been told to investigate whether energy and environment minister Svend Auken misused his power with the siting of a new wind turbine test station at Høvsøre in western Jutland. Objections by residents concerned about bird life in the area to earlier plans for wind turbines on the site were upheld. They now argue that Auken cannot ride roughshod over that decision and site a test station for large turbines at the same location. The first turbine is due on site this month, according to utility NVE, although the local Lemvig council has yet to receive a siting permit application for the project. Residents have suggested an alternative location at the site of the huge Cheminova chemical plant in north-west Jutland.
