Council approves 9 MW

A 9 MW wind farm at Croaghnameal, east of Donegal, has been approved by Donegal County Council. It is the third project by Irish wind farm developer Natural Environmental Technology Limited to gain local authority approval. In July, Donegal Council granted permission for 9 MW at Lough Cuill, next to Croaghnameal, and in March the company won consent for 3.6 MW at Lavagh, north of Tobercurry in Sligo. This latter project is so far the only one, however, with full planning permission; consent for the two Donegal wind farms hinges on the outcome of an appeal against the County Council's decision. This was lodged by Blue Stack Environmental Group -- a body set up to promote the natural heritage in the Blue Stack Mountains of south west Donegal.
