Tomen wind plant developer gets Toyota as new owner

Japanese trading house Toyota Tsusho Corp, a Toyota Motor affiliate, is to become the largest shareholder in independent energy developer and trading company Tomen Corp. Tomen has been financially involved in wind farms in Europe and the US and Toyota Tsusho is the major shareholder in new Japanese company Vestech Japan Corp, which markets Vestas turbines in Japan (Windpower Monthly, August 2000). Toyota Tsusho now holds 11.49% of Tomen's shares and replaces Tokai Bank as the biggest shareholder. Toyota Tsusho has sent an official to serve as vice president at Tomen, which is to retain its status as an independent energy developer.
