AN Maschinenbau und Umweltshutzanlagen, the German arm of Danish wind turbine manufacturer, Bonus, celebrated its first decade at the end of April. AN has four areas of activity, mainly in the energy and environment sector, of which the most profitable is the manufacture and marketing under licence of Bonus wind turbines. Co-operation agreements were signed with Bonus in 1990 and 1992, encompassing a joint development project with European Union support under the Joule II programme. The Bonus 150 kW and 450 kW are in part produced and assembled entirely at the AN works in Bremen -- as will be the 750 kW turbine. Turnover in the wind sector has risen sharply since 1990, from DEM 8 million to DEM 32 million last year. AN already has orders for wind turbines worth DEM 22 million this year. So far in Germany, the company has installed 84, 150 kW machines and 60, 450 kW turbines, totalling 39.6 MW capacity.
