Benign power expands

The new renewable energy powered headquarters of Northern Ireland's foremost wind farm development company, B9 Energy, was officially opened last month by Douglas McIldoon, the province's energy regulator. The building, at Larne in Antrim, is powered by a 2.5 kW wind turbine, photovoltaic panels, and a 9 kW wood burning stove fuelled by short rotation coppice willow grown on site. The Proven wind turbine is shortly to be upgraded to 6 kW. The energy efficient building is expected to save 35,000 kWh annually compared with to a conventional building of that size and function.x
