Sweden's huge inland lakes hold an excellent potential for wind power. Several turbines have been installed along the coast of Vättern and a 600 kW machine is turning on the island of Brommö in the country's largest lake, Vänern. Local citizens are happy with the machine and permission has been granted for another five on the island. A target of meeting 10% of Brommö's electricity needs with wind has been set by the local community.
