First turbine kick starts oil company's plans for 20 MW

Japanese oil company Cosmo Oil has been operating a 1.5 MW Ebara wind turbine in Sakata city in Yamagata Prefecture since December 2004. It is the company's first wind project and kick starts its plan to have 20 MW of wind capacity generating by the end of March 2006. With a budget of ยด3 billion, it plans to add 10-15 turbines in the Tohoku region alone within the next year or so, the company adds.
