ITALY'S FIRST PRIVATELY OPERATED WIND TURBINE
1 May 1995
An agricultural co-operative near Ceva is installing a 150 kW wind turbine in September to be supplied by Wind World of Denmark. It will be Italy's first privately operated wind turbine, says Wind World. In a second project, ten 500 kW machines will be installed on a site nearby. Italian utility ENEL pays about $0.08/kWh for renewables electricity, but projects are difficult to get off the ground because of the country's political instability and the long drawn out privatisation of ENEL.
