Viewsic radio station to run exclusively on wind power

Viewsic, a Japanese satellite radio station with a 24 hour all music format, will from the start of this month become the first radio station in Japan run exclusively on wind power. "I particularly hope this makes an impression on people in their twenties, who don't seem to be too interested in the environment," says Kenichiro Inoue, an assistant station manager. Tokyo based SMETV, owners of Viewsic, have contracted with Japan Natural Energy Company (JNEC) to supply Viewsic with 700,000 kilowatt hours a year of accredited green electricity from the JNEC wind farm in Tadahira, Akita Prefecture.
