Siemens carries out feasibility study at South Korean island of Imja

Siemens is to carry out a feasibility study for a wind project on the South Korean island of Imja with a view to developing it within 12 months. The company's Reiner Schulze declines to confirm reports that the project is as large as 300 MW and will cost $400 million, nor that it will be complete by December 2006. "It is too early to say what is possible, or what the Korean government wants and how much it wants to invest," he says. Siemens wind activities are centred in the Infrastructure Unit of Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services.
