The utility sector finally got serious about wind power in 2002. Mergers and acquisitions involving wind development assets were rampant, with utility affiliates the winners in ten significant M&A auctions. On the stock markets wind fell from favour after market leader Vestas confessed twice in a row to having set its sights too high.
