German turbine manufacturer REpower Systems has finalised a new licence and marketing agreement for construction of its 1.5 MW turbine after cancelling its previous deal with Spain's Gamesa Energia in June. It has set up a joint venture company called Notus Energy with Australia's Notus Power Partners. The new company will initially market the turbine in Australia and New Zealand and once sales have exceeded 50 MW it will build the turbine under licence in Australia. Its activities will also include installation and operational management of turnkey wind stations using megawatt size machines. Notus Energy will be located at Maryborough in Queensland at the manufacturing site of Walkers, a manufacturing company which along with Downer Energy Systems and R F Industries form the three companies behind Notus Power Partners.
