The Indian Renewable Development Agency (IREDA) has sanctioned INR 90.3 million in loans for nine wind power projects ranging from 0.08 MW to 1 MW, with a totalled installed capacity of 3.23 MW. The loans follow a meeting in Madras in November held to inaugurate IRESA's wind energy equipment financing scheme to "generate new project proposals."

According to the Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Sources, 3 MW of wind projects have been completed in India in December and January by RRB-Vestas and NEPC-Micon. RRB-Vestas has completed a 1 MW project of 225 kW machines for Dioces of Kottar, a private company of Muppandal in Tamil Nadu. NEPC-Micon has commissioned three machines of 250 kW each, at Perungudi in Tamil Nadu, for Madras Cements. At the same site, NEPC- Micon has also commissioned three turbines of 400 kW for its own use.
