Ecotricity, the Stroud based renewable electricity retailer formerly known as the Renewable Energy Company, continues to make the news after winning an award for Business Innovation. It beat all major UK utilities in the business innovation sector of the annual Utility Industry Achievement Awards in London. Ecotricity's managing director, Dale Vince - who was voted runner up in the Outstanding Individual category - says: "Innovation is about seeing what everybody else has always seen and then doing what nobody else has ever thought of, or dared to do." Ecotricity has also been awarded "Millennium Product" status by prime minister Tony Blair. The Millennium Products initiative was launched by Blair to recognise innovation and creativity in design of UK products and services. Ecotricity - which powers the Millennium Dome at Greenwich - was chosen for accreditation for its help in combating global warming.
