Eddie O'Connor embarks on new venture

No sooner was the sale of Airtricity to Scottish and Southern Energy complete, than founder Eddie O'Connor was embarking on a new renewables venture. A mere six days after leaving Airtricity, he registered a new company: Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. He says he is currently putting a new team together and is broadening into other renewable energies as well as wind. "The big renewable product in northern Europe is wind, but if you look at Spain and Portugal and the Mediterranean basin, solar is starting to develop there," he told the Irish Times. "We'll be looking at doing wind projects in northern Europe and at solar power and photovoltaic technology."
