Five to seven years for Australia to make top ten

It will take five to seven years, assuming the right policy is in place, before Australia can make it into the top ten list of wind markets, Derek Kidley of PricewaterhouseCoopers told the Auswind 2007 conference last month. He pointed out that PwC's Global Utilities Survey, released earlier this year, shows a sharp increase in the number of executives around the world who believe wind energy will form a large share of their energy consumption in the next five years. "In 2006, only seventeen per cent thought so. That figure for 2007 jumped up forty-eight per cent," he said. "Wind is definitely on the up and is seen increasingly as a solution around the globe."
