Construction of Pacific Power's 10 MW wind farm at Blayney in central western New South Wales is underway. The $18 million project will see 15 Vestas V47 turbines on two privately owned farms. Ian Newton of Pacific Power, formerly the Electricity Commission of NSW, says the project should be complete by October 2000. "Planning, approvals and community acceptance were made easy after the establishment of the existing 5 MW farm at Crookwell, further to the south of Blayney," he adds. The wind farm's output has been pre-sold to Advance Energy to meet demands for green power.
