Green pricing programme put on hold

Ontario Hydro has not yet reported back to the public on its "Green$hares" proposal, designed to enable customers to pay a voluntary premium for new green sources of electricity (Windpower Monthly, November 1995). The fund would support possible additional solicitations in the utility's Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) programme beyond the first 125 MW. However, RETs is now stymied (see page 18). Hydro had identified the Canadian government as a prime candidate for green power purchasing.
