Production starts at Enercon factory
Production has started at Enercon's latest concrete tower manufacturing factory, located at Jarssumer harbour in the German port of Emden. The wind turbine maker says it is making the move to concrete rather than steel towers for technical reasons but adds: "The price of concrete is less volatile than that of steel." The factory will produce around 200 towers each year for the company's 2 MW and 4.5-6 MW machines, supplementing production at its Magdeburg concrete tower manufacturing plant, which can no longer meet demand.
