The Fördergesellschaft Windenergie (FGW) has a new executive director, professional lobbyist Andreas Wagner. Wagner took over the post from Vera Litzka on September 1 after she departed in May. The FGW, with about 100 members, is a forum for wind energy's political, scientific and industrial interests and wind plant operators. Experience is pooled from which joint initiatives can be started. One of its most important tasks has been public relations and the dissemination of information. Wagner says this work will continue, but he also intends to broaden activities to include foreign issues. Previously Wagner was responsible for international and European matters at the Bundesverband Windenergie (BWE), the German wind energy association, as a freelance lobbyist. The BWE has over 4500 members and mainly represents the interests of wind turbine operators. It has some 30 regional branches and publishes a monthly magazine, Neue Energie. The FGW headquarters is to be moved from Brunsbüttel to Hamburg.
