Nuon buys British development firm Ecowind

Dutch power company Nuon has bought British wind development company Ecowind Ltd (formerly M&N Wind Power) from the Nichimen Corporation of Japan for an undisclosed sum. The new company, Nuon UK Ltd, brings together the 250 MW development portfolio of Ecowind including one 3.6 MW wind farm in Wales, and the UK development activities of Nuon. According to the company's David Leivesley, Nuon UK aims to increase its wind portfolio in the UK and Ireland through its own project development, acquisition of operating wind farms and through strategic alliances.
