The World Summit on Sustainable Development failed to set targets for renewables. With America pointing out that they were "unrealistic and arbitrary" and the developing world viewing them with suspicion, the EU backed down. Wind, however, had a good summit, catching the world media's attention with its great economic and technical strides.
