Another delay in market competition
Trading in Australia's national electricity market has been delayed for the third time with no announcement of a new date for the intended November 15 launch. The National Electricity Marketing Management Company (NEMMCO) said last month that two weeks of further testing of computer systems was needed. A starting date would be set as soon as possible thereafter. "Given the size of the national electricity market, it was agreed it would be prudent to run extra trials so we could confirm our confidence in the systems," said NEMMCO's Stephen van der Mye.
