Thermie support for two projects

Two wind energy schemes in Ireland are included in the latest round of funding under the European Union's Thermie programme for energy demonstration projects. A 3 MW wind farm in County Donegal is to incorporate innovative control systems to maximise wind penetration. The project is proposed by an Irish/Danish/Belgian development group. The second project, at the other end of Ireland in County Waterford, is a demonstration of a megawatt turbine in a remote area. This is being developed by Dutch company NedWind BV and the privately owned Irish Electricity Generating Company.
