The European Renewable Energy Centers Agency (EUREC-Agency) is made up of 35 research and development institutions active in the field of renewable energy in Europe. It is not an organisation exclusive to Europe's wind energy test centres, as stated in Windpower Monthly, March 1996, although the main activity of more than ten of the EUREC-Agency members is wind energy. The EUREC-Agency was founded in 1991 as a "European Economic Interest Grouping to provide a forum for interdisciplinary co-operation." The objectives of the agency include promotion of international collaboration, advising the European Commission, advising on and supporting political initiatives to stimulate the use of renewables, and provision of a platform for discussion and information exchange.
