AIM Powergen, an Ontario wind developer holding multiple power purchase contracts under the province's "standard offer" program, has secured 18 Vestas 1.65 MW units for its projects. The machines are earmarked for three 9.9 MW wind farms near Lake Erie. Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in August 2008. Meantime, AIM has started construction on four 9.9 MW standard offer projects also using Vestas 1.65 MW units, which will begin arriving on the wind farm sites in October. The seven projects carry a combined price tag of C$156.6 million. Standard offer contracts are available for projects up to 10 MW in size.
